Spring Reset: Energy, Hormones, and Building Your Life (and Garden)

I can’t believe it’s April! My birthday month, full Aries energy, and the official shift into spring.
Honestly, I love this time of year. The motivation is creeping back, the days are longer, and it finally feels like winter’s grip is loosening. If you’re feeling that pull to clean things up, move a little more, and reset your routine, you’re not alone.
Now that we’ve made it through the time change, it’s the perfect season to lean into what your body wants: light, movement, and a little extra support for your hormones.
I mean, don’t you want enough energy to last all day? I’m a lover of both sunrises and sunsets, and I’ve found that just stepping outside, even for ten minutes, can shift everything. Morning light helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which impacts cortisol, energy, and metabolism. And bonus: a short walk outside can lift your mood before your coffee even hits your cup.
Evening sunlight plays a role too. Spending a few minutes outside near sunset helps signal to your body that the day is winding down, supporting melatonin production and setting you up for more restful sleep. A short evening stroll, can help close the loop on your energy and regulate blood sugar before hitting the hay.
A creative way to extend that energy and hormone-friendly light into something tangible is by getting your hands dirty in the garden. Start your seeds! Gardening, planting flowers, or tending to herbs and vegetables combines movement, sunlight, and creativity all at once. Fresh veggies not only nourish your body, but also give you a natural boost of fiber throughout the season, supporting digestion, blood sugar, and satiety.
Building a garden is a lot like building your life.
You plant small seeds, tend to them consistently, and watch them grow over time. The blooms, sprouts, and herbs thriving in your care are a reminder that small, consistent actions – whether it’s movement, nutrition, or intentional habits – accumulate into a life that feels grounded, intentional, and full of potential. Every little task matters, every choice adds up, and growth is a process, not a rush.
Here’s why this works:
- Movement that feels joyful: Digging, planting, or watering engages muscles and improves circulation without feeling like a structured workout.
- Creativity reduces stress: Hands-on activities like gardening have been associated with lower cortisol and improved mood.
- Sun + sensory stimulation: Morning and evening light support your circadian rhythm, boosting daytime energy and preparing your body for restful sleep.
- Small wins that feel big: Watching seeds sprout or veggies thrive mirrors how intentional life choices compound over time, building momentum and confidence.
Spring isn’t about extremes or perfection. It’s about planting seeds in your routine, tending to them consistently, and letting life & energy grow naturally. Step outside, get your hands dirty, and let this season inspire both your body and your life.
