Platelet Rich Plasma Injections (PRP)
PRP injections are used in treating multiple musculoskeletal conditions as well as in cosmetic facial treatments. PRP injections involve first drawing 4-6 tubes of blood. The tubes are then spun down in a special centrifuge which concentrates the platelets. The platelets are then extracted and injected into the injured site under ultrasound guidance ensuring accurate delivery of the PRP. Patients often require between 4-6 treatments which can range in frequency from 2 weeks to 6 weeks.
Neural Prolotherapy is an injection of 5% dextrose (a sugar) injected subcutaneously (just under the skin) over the area that is painful. Dextrose has an effect on the TRPV1 receptor of the nerve. By affecting this receptor it inhibits the nerve from releasing a signal to the brain thereby eliminating pain.
